British police mentioned Tuesday they’d opened an investigation right into a package deal containing uranium that was seized at London’s Heathrow Airport.
The package deal was found by border brokers throughout a routine search on December 29, police mentioned.
The package deal had originated in Pakistan and arrived on a flight from Oman, in accordance with The Solar, which first reported the story.
The uranium was present in a cargo of scrap steel and investigators have been wanting into whether or not it was the results of “poor dealing with” in Pakistan, the BBC reported.
“I need to reassure the general public that the quantity of contaminated materials was extraordinarily small and has been assessed by consultants as posing no risk to the general public,” police commander Richard Smith mentioned in a press release to British media.
“Though our investigation stays ongoing, from our inquiries thus far, it doesn’t look like linked to any direct risk.”
