Newark Airport terminal evacuated after safety breach

Newark Airport’s Terminal C was partially evacuated Monday resulting from a safety breach that brought on “important alarm” amongst airport vacationers, officers stated.

A girl allegedly bolted by way of a safety checkpoint and into the concourse earlier than she was detained by legislation enforcement, in response to the Transportation Safety Administration.

Some passengers “self-evacuated” onto the tarmac amid the commotion, TSA stated.

The incident occurred at round 10:20 a.m., in response to the Port Authority, whose officers responded to the incident.

“Whereas there was no bomb risk nor taking pictures that occurred, the disturbance brought on important public alarm to ticketed passengers who consequently ran from the disturbance and exited the terminal by way of varied means,” the Port Authority Police Division stated in a press release.

The scare impacted three safety gates, which have since resumed regular operations, PAPD stated. The feminine instigator is being evaluated at College Hospital, cops stated.

Images posted on Twitter confirmed vacationers milling about outdoors the airport.

Another user replied that his flight was delayed on the runway as a result of “passengers who evacuated from terminal c had been on the runway behind our airplane.”

United Airways — the only real operator at Terminal C — declined to remark.
